There are just a few short weeks left before the appeals and FRAm are trying everything possible to ensure that the Inspector at the Appeals understands the devastating impact all these developments will have on Framlingham.
Bit of background
FRAm have spoken at all the planning committee meetings to object to the developments. We have canvassed the District planning committee members, our own district and county councillors and had discussions and meetings with our MP. We have had meetings with Suffolk Coastal District Council, Suffolk County Council Highways, our District Councillors, Framlingham Town Council. We have also commissioned our own independent travel consultant to review the developer’s travel policies and this confirmed our fears.
Given that SCDC voted, behind closed doors, to retract the insufficient infrastructure and un-sustainability reasons for refusing the applications (thereby conceding to the developers that the infrastructure can cope and the developments are sustainable). There was only one route to ensure that the sustainability issues were discussed and that was for FRAm to take a full legal role in the Appeals and become a Rule 6 participant. This level of participation, however, requires full legal representation and independent experts (local knowledge is not regarded as an expert view) which we alone cannot fund.
Raising money to cover legal fees
We have been raising money to cover legal representation. Initially we asked our members to help fund the first stage of the legal costs to apply for Rule 6, which they have done magnificently, and all within a week!
We had a December target of £6,000 – now ACHIEVED – so a huge thank you to all those who have donated to the fund so generously.
Now we need to raise the remaining funds for the legal fees and the expert witnesses which come to a grand total of £18,000 (including VAT). Targets are : January £10,000 ; February £4,000; March £4,000.
So please donate if you can

Fund raising continues…
We are also planning a calendar of fundraising activities, the first is a Quiz Night (with drink to get those grey cells working better and some food to make sure that you can walk home) scheduled for Friday 15 January 2015 at St Michael’s Rooms, please keep this date free and bring your friends!
If you have any good fund raising ideas, please do get in touch, and we are very happy for you to run your own!
The objective now is to ensure that we raise the remainder of the fees for our legal representation and the expert witnesses.
Help us fight for Fram.
